WebAmp plays music straight from a folder on your own device. Your files never leave it — nothing is uploaded, and there are no accounts.
Add your music
- Computer (Chrome / Edge): tap Open folder and choose your music folder. WebAmp walks every subfolder and adds all songs. The folder is remembered — the ↻ rescan button pulls in new songs later, and it also checks automatically on launch.
- Android (Chrome / Edge): same as computer. Big folders take a moment — a live “Scanning… N songs found” count shows it’s working. After a fresh launch Android may ask once to re-allow the folder the first time you play a song; installing WebAmp to your home screen makes that grant stick better.
- iPhone / iPad: tap Add songs, open a folder in the Files app, select the tracks, and tap Open. Repeat per album — they add up and are saved. (Safari has no true folder picker, so selection is per-folder.)
- Drag & drop: on a computer you can also drop music files onto the window.
Play
- The big green button is play / pause; ⏮ / ⏭ jump to previous / next.
- 🔀 Shuffle and 🔁 Repeat (repeat loops whatever view you’re in).
- Drag the seek bar to scrub; tap the time to switch to time-remaining.
- Tap the big art tile to cycle spectrum → oscilloscope → album art.
Find & organize
- The search box filters by song, artist, or album.
- In Library, tap an album heading to focus just that album; ‹ Library goes back.
- Drag tracks to reorder them.
- More room: drag the small handle at the top of the list upward (or tap it) to expand the song list to nearly full screen; swipe it down, tap it again, or pick a song to restore. Handy on short or dual-screen displays.
- Playlists: highlight a song and tap + Playlist to add it (or create a new list). Use the dropdown to switch between Library and your playlists.
Sound
The sliders button (next to repeat) opens Volume, Balance, and a 10-band Equalizer with presets. EQ and the live spectrum run on computer and Android; on iPhone/iPad audio plays straight through so it keeps going in the background.
Saved & private
- Your library and playlists are saved on this device and reload automatically — ★ saved confirms it.
- Clear library (in the sliders panel) removes songs from WebAmp only; your real files are untouched.
Install as an app
Add WebAmp to your home screen for full-screen use, offline launch, and lock-screen controls. On iPhone/iPad: Share ▸ Add to Home Screen, then open it from the icon — that’s also what enables background audio.
